FAQ about the VerpackG risk check

Does a small business have to register in LUCID?

If a business places packaging subject to system participation on the German market, the obligation may apply even at small volumes. Quantity is not the only factor.

Do I need packaging licensing if I send only a few parcels?

A small number of parcels can still require system participation if the packaging normally becomes waste with private final consumers.

Does a foreign company need an authorised representative in Germany?

An authorised representative may be relevant for foreign companies, especially when they sell directly to German final consumers. The exact setup should be checked carefully.

Is LUCID registration enough?

Often no. Registration, system participation and quantity reporting usually need to fit together. LUCID alone does not automatically complete every obligation.

Who is responsible for packaging under private labels?

Private labels can move responsibility closer to the brand owner or importer. The key question is who places the packaged goods on the German market.
